Team
Ayers and Mercado Win the Duel on the Delta!
39
Professional Kickboat Bass Pro's showed up to the California Delta at
Beacon Harbor for the 3rd stop on the Scbbbc 2010 tournament trail.
This was the Scbbbc first team draw tournament of the year and there
was a real feeling of excitement in the air as everyone prepared for
the blind team draw announcements. The weather gave us some of the best
fishing conditions we have seen in 6 months, and the wind was nonexistent
this time out on the delta. After the teams were drawn everyone had
15 minutes to meet with their partners to talk tactics and game plans.
A few minutes before 6 am the tournament director blasted everyone off
to go fish. 20 teams on high speed manpower rowed themselves away to
there hot spots. When it was all said and done it was the team of Mike
Ayers and Andy Mercado taking first place with a five fish limit of
14.70 pounds. This was an impressive showing for both anglers, it gave
Mike Ayers his 2nd strait first place finish with the Scbbbc and his
3rd win in a row out of his kickboat winning a Bass-n-tubes tournament
last weekend. Andy's 4.99 pound fish helping seal the deal for these
two and helping Andy get his first Scbbbc win! Congratulations to both
of you. Mike's win gives him in a 9 point lead over Matt Nyiri in the
Angler of the Year race after 3 events. 2nd place goes to two past Angler
of the year winners 2009 AOY Jon Bird and 2005 AOY Carson Riley with
a five fish limit of 13.64 pounds. Coming in 3rd place was the team
of Randy Kidd and Walt Searway with a big 3 fish limit of 13.43 pounds.
Randy had the tournament big fish of 5.99 pounds. 4th place was the
team of 2009 Rookie of the Year Matt Nyiri and Jon Hatfield with 5 for
11.86 pounds. And last in the money and in 5th place was the team of
Bihn Phi and Jordan Brendal with 3 for 10.84 pounds. Congratulations
to all the top finishers on a tough day on the delta. A special thank
you to our club sponsors, Bucks Bags and CatchemCaro Bait Company! If
your not using a Bucks Bag Boat and not throwing a CatchemCaro bait
your not winning! Next up is the BnT US Open on Clear Lake. You won't
want to miss this 2 day event, Stay tuned for more details....Thank
you to all the officers on another well run tournament and the staff
at Beacon Harbor for letting us have our event at there place on the
Delta!
