Deren Kozenko Claims State Classic Victory!

The 24th Scbbbc State Classic is over! It rained and the wind blew while 40 of California's best kick boater pounded Clear Lake hoping to hook a hog. This year it was Deren Kozenko who came in with the 6 largest bass of the weekend weighing in at 25.07 lbs all done at M&M, Congratulations Deren. He was followed close by Matt Cahill Who did his work at Konocti with a weight of 24.38 and tournament big fish of 6.67 pounds, Great job Matt. Then came Mr. Doug Tyler in third with 6 for 23.18 lbs. Doug was the day one leader with 13.49 lbs and still has not given up his location. 4th place was Mike Boggs with a solid weight of 21.12. Rounding out the top five in 5th place was Dominic Doans with a limit of 19.01 lbs. Great job to all the top finishers. Day one big fish went to Scott Beem with a nice 5.80 pound bass. This years raffle winner of the big shiny new southfork kick boat from bucksbag was rookie member Randy Volkman, Congratulations Randy. I would like to thank everyone for coming out and playing in the rain for the 24 Scbbbc State classic. I would like to also thank Andrew and Captain Jack from the Cal Federation Nation for coming out and cooking all of us dinner Saturday which was great. I would also like to thank all the Clear Lake tackle stores for supporting our event, and the B-N-T club for putting this event on their roster. Thank You!

Thank's also goes to Dale Zindler for giving us the hamburger patties, And all our sponsors! Which includes Bucksbag , Flowmaster, Big Hammer Swimbaits, Persuader Baits, Mend-It, Power Pro, Rattle Traps, Tackle It, Limit Out, Clear Lake Outdoors, Outdoor Pro Shop, Save Face, and Rejuvinade. Thanks Jon Bird, Matt Cahill, Binh Phi, and Steve Wilson for helping make this show run smooth. I sure missed several faces that I have gotten used to seeing every year. I sure hope to see them at the B-NT Open in May 09'. I had a blast and I hope every one else did too.

Angler of the Year and Rookie of the Year Races are still up for grabs with one tournament left on the schedule. While yes the AOY is still up for grabs it is pretty much a done deal with big dave Sternitzke holding on to a large 24 point lead over deren kozenko with one to go. But it not over tell it's over! Good luck gentleman! The real race now is the Rookie of the Year chase. As i see it only 2 anglers are in this race and they are only separated by one point. First year Scbbbc members Doug Tyler holds that one point lead over Dominic Doans and it's anyone trophy right now! Our next tournament at Blue lake will have a lot riding on it for all these angler and also this last tournament will decide this years elite Tournament of champions bid. Stay tuned you all!
