Frequently
Asked Questions
How
do I join the club?
You can join by
attending one of our monthly meetings or by going to a tournament. Also,
check the bottom of our home page for links to e-mails for the club
officers, who will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Do I have
to attend meetings to be a club member?
No. However, they
are a great place to meet other folks, learn more about bass fishing,
and chew the fat with other avid anglers.
How much
does it cost to join?
For 2004, dues for
a standard membership are $40. Of that money, $20 goes toward the year-end
Tournament of Champions, $15 goes to the BASS Federation National chapter
(they provide our liability insurance) and $5 goes to the BASS Federation
California chapter. For those under 16 years of age, dues are $30.
Do I have
to join the club to fish in your tournaments?
No. If you don't
join, though, your points will not count toward qualification for the
Tournament of Champions. Also, after you fish your first tournament
of the season with us, it will cost an extra $5.00 to fish.
How much
do tournaments cost?
The tournament entry
fee is $20.00 for club members. Of that money, $5.00 goes to the club
& the other $15.00 goes to 100% payout of the top 1/3 of finishers.
For non-members,
the first time you fish with the club, the entry fee is the same - $20.00.
After that, it’s $25.00 (an extra $5) to enter.
In addition to the
entry fee, there are optional bets for big fish ($5.00) & a jackpot
option (another $5.00). For the big fish prize, two-thirds goes to the
biggest fish weighed-in that day & the other one-third goes to the
second biggest fish. The jackpot is 100% to the winner (i.e., the winner
among those who placed a bet in the jackpot – that’s not
always the tournament winner).
What equipment
do I need to participate in a tournament?
Aside from the obvious
(tube, waders, fins, fishing equipment, etc.), you’ll need a livewell.
Many people use fish baskets or Follow-Me Bags. You can make one yourself,
too. Just make sure it’s big enough that the fish have room to
move around a little. If you want to make your own but don't know how,
post a question on the Forum or Basstalk, both of which can be found
on the homepage. There are many experienced tubers in our club and Bass-n-Tubes
who will be happy to share information with you.
What are
the rules?
Links that will
take you to all of the rules for fishing in our club and for qualifying
for the Tournament of Champions can be found on our homepage. Be sure
to read and understand them before fishing with us. If you have any
questions, contact a club officer, who can explain them in more detail.
